START:
normal couple
(lady to right of man)
with joined hands
ACTION:
see below
END:
dancers have
exchanged places;
both face opposite
direction from start
raise joined hands to form an arch
simultaneously:
lady walks forward under arch; makes a tight left-turning semicircle
man makes a wider right-turning semicircle around lady
Basic 1
lady should initiate height of arch (high enough to avoid her head)
What if lady doesn't want to raise her arm?
Or, what if lady is too tall for man's arm to reach?
In both cases:
dancers release handhold;
gesture with fingertips at an imaginary arch
compare with a same-facing trade (same body motion, different arms)
