I have been interested in mathematical typesetting my entire adult life. While I was an undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts (Amherst), I think I typed every mathematics thesis and dissertation for people who graduated during my time there. At that time, I was using an IBM selectric typewriter with custom-made elements. The years were about 1976 to 1981.
