Air Fryer Bagel Chips
I often make homemade Chex Party Mix for Christmas gifts. One of my favorite
ingredients is the bagel chips—but I always have trouble finding them, and they're expensive.
I make my own for less than half the cost—simple, healthier, and oh-so-delicious!
Ingredients
-
Thomas' Bagel Thins
(Definitely DON'T buy them at Amazon! Waaayyy too expensive.
I get them at Walmart: $3.48 for a 13 oz package [October 2018].
I just wanted to show you what I use.)
- garlic salt
- butter
Make the bagel chips:
-
There are 8 bagels in a package.
Work with
two-at-a-time: separate, slice into thin strips, slice strips into small pieces.
-
Melt 2 Tb butter in (say) a 7-cup Pyrex container with a loose lid.
(10 sec, 10 sec, 5 sec, 5 sec, shaking between does it;
there are no splatters because of the short bursts and lid)
- Add about 1/2 tsp garlic salt to melted butter; stir.
-
Dump bagel pieces into the butter mixture.
Put lid on securely; shake thoroughly to coat chips.
-
Dump chips into air fryer (into the mesh part, no paper liner on bottom,
no pan insert).
Give a shake to loosen.
Set air fryer for 12 minutes at 320°.
Shake 23 times while air-frying.
-
Repeat for remaining bagels (four batches total).
My air fryer is 3.2 qt;
this size batch cooks every single
bagel chip perfectly!
