This document provides a sample of what I used for ‘Family Night’ in a public high school.
Parents (for a given class) would assemble in my classroom: I then had about ten minutes to introduce myself,
talk a bit about the coming year, answer questions, and collect some information from them.

individual class homepages:
GEOMETRY HONORS
ALGEBRA II
AP CALCULUS AB
From these homepages, you can check:
- course overview and policies
- day-to-day class information
- copy of grade sheet showing all assessments and point values
- year-long algebra review schedule:
-- fills in gaps in foundational material
-- helps to achieve mastery of basic skills
-- preparation for MCAS, SAT
-- in general, these are EASIER points than the new material, and can raise one's grade
-
Here's a typical review ‘web exercise’:
Going from a sequence of operations to an expression
- QUESTIONS YOU CAN ASK YOUR DAUGHTER/SON:
- periodically: May I please see your gradesheet?
- on weekends:
Have you looked over your review exercises for Friday's quiz?
Does it look like these will be easy/hard for you?
- on weekends: Are you all set for Monday's major quiz?
- on Thursdays: Are you all set for tomorrow's review quiz?
