Carol

Carol writes the lessons and creates the exercises. This web site has given meaning to her life since 1999—about 11,000 hours.

She has a Doctor of Arts in Mathematics (a doctoral-level degree that emphasizes effective teaching), and has taught for about 30 years at both the college and high school levels.

Ray

Ray is Carol's incredible husband. He does all the hard coding. He's a computer guru. His credentials are here. Better have a week free to read through them!

Ray is a true Renaissance man. He dances (a lot). He sings tenor, plays many instruments, arranges and conducts music. He does appliance/car repair, architecture, construction, electrical, law, math, modeling, plumbing, more. Anything he decides to do, he does.

Ray has a currently-unconventional clothing preference—he likes to wear beautiful dresses. Carol loves her genius cross-dressing husband.

FUN FACTS

Get to know me! I think it's more fun to learn from someone you know. How old am I?   Do I have any kids?   What's my favorite number?   Do I play ping-pong?

ALGEBRA PINBALL

You can time yourself on a lot of my exercises. I remember watching my students at Miss Hall's School trying to beat a really fast time—their fingers were flying! It made me think of someone using a pinball machine, and thus was born ‘Algebra Pinball’.

LANGUAGE OF MATH

This is the book that started my entire web site. Brooks-Cole publishers loved it. They said: “If you can find the right place to put it, this book will do a great service to the mathematical educational world.”
